A Counseling Psychologist with notable affiliations, he is recognized by the British Psychological Society, the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK, the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations as a Registered EuroPsy Psychologist in Clinical and Health psychology,
His educational journey is marked by significant achievements, including completing his Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2003 and his Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2008. Dr. Bekiroğulları’s dedication to his field is further exemplified by his full-time Family Therapy training commenced in 2014 at King’s College London, a globally esteemed institution renowned for its contribution to the academic and clinical psychology fields, from which he graduated in 2016.
This training at King’s College London is particularly noteworthy, underscoring the high level of expertise and knowledge Dr. Bekiroğulları brings to his practice and teaching. In 2017, he pursued a program in Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity.
As of March 29, 2024, we highlight a unique milestone: the only therapist in Cyprus with a BA Honors degree in CBT from the UK. This exclusive qualification sets him apart, offering unparalleled expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Bekiroğulları’s extensive experience encompasses treating a range of disorders including Anxiety Disorders, Specific Phobias, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, OCD, and offering Couple Therapy.
His professional background includes placements at prestigious institutions such as Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and the South London and Maudsley National Health Services Foundation Trust in England. Currently, he runs a private practice in London, applying his wealth of experience as a Counseling Psychologist to provide specialized care.
Having lived / worked across the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, and Cyprus, his international exposure is vast. He has also contributed as a teaching guest staff member in Italy and Kazakhstan. Dr. Bekiroğulları has significantly impacted the field by leading the Master Practitioner Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Program in Cyprus, responding to the Turkish Cypriot Psychologists Association’s request. This initiative has enabled participants to receive expert practitioner certificates upon completing Module I, Module II, and the supervision phase.
His engagement extends to Turkey, where he successfully conducted the Module I, Module II, and the supervision procedure for a group of master’s students in psychology, predominantly medical doctors. In Cyprus, he offered the same program to psychologists and psychological counselors affiliated with the NC Drug Combat Commission and continues these trainings to further professional development.
Additionally, Dr. Bekiroğulları has delivered CBT training to PhD students in Kazakhstan and Italy, enriching the academic landscape with his expertise. His editorial contribution surpasses 1,500 academic reports, all recognized by the ISI Thomson Reuters Web of Science, reflecting his scholarly impact.
In recognition of his contributions, the European Association of Counseling Psychology awarded him the European Award for Excellence in Counseling Psychology in July 2014.
As the Course Leader for the Specialist Practitioner Diploma Course in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the president of the INTERNATIONAL COGNITIVE AND BEHAVIOURAL PSYCHOTHERAPIES SOCIETY – CBPIS, Dr. Bekiroğulları is at the forefront of advancing CBT practice and education on a global scale.
